I’ve been using my smart phone to check the status of my weather station while I’m out of the house.\u00a0 This works OK, but required me to zoom in and scroll around on the pages on my weather Web site, as they were too large to fit on the mobile device’s display.\u00a0 I decided it was time to create a dedicated page for my mobile device.\u00a0 I put together a quick prototype that seems to work well.\u00a0 It even has Ajax updates and colors the changed values green, just like my main page.\u00a0 It doesn’t have much in the way of a flashy user interface yet.\u00a0 Just a very basic display of several readings from the weather station.\u00a0 I’ll probably add more to the page as time allows.\u00a0 The page is at http:\/\/www.cloppermillweather.org\/mobile.php<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I also built a prototype for a new Web site using a different CSS template.\u00a0 The layout is very different, and I’m not sure whether I like ti or not yet.\u00a0 It has a much smoother look to it, but it is more for a blog than for a site that displays tabular data.\u00a0 I’m going to continue to experiment with it, but I haven’t decided whether I want to make the switch or not.\u00a0 This new page only uses static data for layout purposes, and can be seen at http:\/\/cloppermillweather.org\/testsite\/<\/a><\/p>\n

Finally, the revised FARS has been working out perfectly.\u00a0 Comparisons with local stations and my extra thermometer shows that my temperature readings are always close to the others.\u00a0 There is still a little solar heating, but it is greatly reduced and not really noticeable unless you know just when it is occurring.\u00a0 I know because i have a solar detector that can give me an idea as to when the FARS is getting direct sunlight.\u00a0 The solar detector isn’t much more accurate than that, but does help me see how the temperature is affected by the sunlight shining on the FARS.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
