{"id":420,"date":"2013-07-21T11:49:45","date_gmt":"2013-07-21T15:49:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cloppermillweather.org\/blog\/?p=420"},"modified":"2013-07-21T11:51:03","modified_gmt":"2013-07-21T15:51:03","slug":"favicon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cloppermillweather.org\/blog\/2013\/07\/21\/favicon\/","title":{"rendered":"Favicon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just for grins, I added a favicon.ico to my weather web site so that browsers can show a little icon when the a user bookmarks a page on that site.\u00a0 The icon also shows up in the browser&#8217;s tab for that page or in the address bar, depending on the browser.\u00a0 That was all simple enough, but I wanted to attempt to take it a step further.\u00a0 So I added some code to the class that retrieves the weather forecast that is displayed on the web site.\u00a0 The new code converts the image for the current weather into an icon and stores it as favicon.ico.\u00a0 I also added some code to the Web page that refreshes the icon every time the forecast is refreshed.\u00a0 So now the favicon shows the current weather forecast.\u00a0 This works really well in Firefox and Chrome.
